What you’ll be doing

You’ll be joining the Customer Experience team – the people who make sure that travelling with Interrail feels effortless, from the first search to the final destination. And you return from your trip feeling the ‘Interrail effect’. Within CX you'll sit in the Research & Insights team: the small team that turns travellers' questions into evidence colleagues can act on. You'll report to the Lead Research & Insights.

You’ll be involved in research from start to finish – taking a briefing from a Product, Marketing or UX colleague, designing the study, running it, and turning what you find into insights people actually use. Expect to work independently on your own studies, with a mentor close by.

This is a research role for Interrail. You'll conduct research on behalf of the company, based on briefings from the Product, Marketing, and UX teams, and turn findings into insights that inform business decisions. It is not an opportunity to conduct independent academic research or a thesis project.

• Work together with Research & Insights colleagues to design and set up research studies based on stakeholder briefings, taking responsibility for specific parts under team guidance.

• Run interviews together and moderate usability tests, and support unmoderated testing via UserTesting.com.

• Translate findings into clear reports and recommendations, pitched for Product, Marketing, UX and strategy audiences.

• Keep our research knowledge base alive (SharePoint and ClickUp), so insights are easy to find, trust and reuse across Eurail.

• Help with the practical side of research: recruiting respondents, scheduling, and setting up tests.

• Track news, market trends and competitors' moves across the travel sector, and share what matters.

• Own a small research or process improvement project over the course of your internship – something concrete you can point to afterwards.

Explore how AI could improve our research processes, for example, by helping analyse traveller feedback or making existing insights easier to find and reuse.

What we’re looking for in you
We’re looking for talented students who share our mindset: forward-thinking, results-driven, caring, and embracing diversity.

In terms of your study area and strengths, we’re looking for; 

• A  Bachelor's or Master's student in Communication, Consumer Psychology, Product Design, Commercial Economics, Marketing (Research), or a related field.

• Hands-on experience – through your studies or a previous internship – with qualitative methods (interviews, focus groups, moderated and unmoderated usability testing), plus a working grasp of quantitative ones (surveys, basic statistics).

• Naturally curious and proactive: you'd rather ask the question than assume the answer.

• Detail-oriented, but able to zoom out and spot which insight actually matters.

• A clear writer, comfortable pitching a report at the right level for different audiences.

• A sense of which approach – qualitative or quantitative – fits a given business question.

• Comfortable juggling a few projects at once; you'll get support prioritising.

• Proficient in written and spoken English (our business language) and confident with Microsoft/Google tools.

• Bonus points for experience with Miro, UserTesting or ClickUp.

• A prorated monthly internship allowance of €650 (Bachelor’s) or €750 (Master’s).

• A travel allowance covering your commute to and from the office.

• 2 days of paid leave per month, prorated.
